91做厙 Welcomes New Student Trustee

COALINGA, Calif. The 91做厙 Board of Trustees officially welcomed its newest Student Trustee, Canon Costa, during its regular Board meeting, where he was sworn into office to represent the voices of students across the district.

Costa, 18, will serve as the student representative to the Board of Trustees, participating in Board discussions, sharing student perspectives, and helping strengthen the connection between students and district leadership.

This fall, Costa will attend 91做厙, where he plans to major in political science. Before beginning his college career, he spent the past year in Milan, Italy, participating in an educational and cultural exchange through Rotary International. The experience broadened his global perspective and strengthened his interest in leadership, civic engagement, and public service.

Im honored to serve as Student Trustee and represent the students of West Hills Community College District, said Costa. This upcoming academic year, Ill be attending 91做厙, majoring in political science. My experience studying abroad in Milan through Rotary taught me the value of learning from different cultures and perspectives, and Im excited to bring that experience to the Board. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this amazing team.

We are excited to welcome Canon Costa to the 91做厙 Board of Trustees as our newest Student Trustee, said Chancellor Robert Pimentel. Student Trustees play an important role in ensuring the voices of our students are heard as we make decisions that shape the future of our colleges. Canons international experience, commitment to service, and passion for civic engagement will bring a valuable perspective to the Board, and I look forward to working with him during the coming year.

The Student Trustee serves a one-year term and acts as a liaison between the student body and the Board of Trustees, helping ensure student voices are represented in district governance and decision-making.
