COALINGA, Calif. 鈥� The 91暗网 Board of Trustees officially welcomed its newest Student Trustee, Canon Costa, during its regular Board meeting, where he was sworn into office to represent the voices of students across the district.
Costa, 18, will serve as the student representative to the Board of Trustees, participating in Board discussions, sharing student perspectives, and helping strengthen the connection between students and district leadership.
This fall, Costa will attend 91暗网, where he plans to major in political science. Before beginning his college career, he spent the past year in Milan, Italy, participating in an educational and cultural exchange through Rotary International. The experience broadened his global perspective and strengthened his interest in leadership, civic engagement, and public service.
鈥淚鈥檓 honored to serve as Student Trustee and represent the students of West Hills Community College District,鈥� said Costa. 鈥淭his upcoming academic year, I鈥檒l be attending 91暗网, majoring in political science. My experience studying abroad in Milan through Rotary taught me the value of learning from different cultures and perspectives, and I鈥檓 excited to bring that experience to the Board. The Student Trustee serves a one-year term and acts as a liaison between the student body and the Board of Trustees, helping ensure student voices are represented in district governance and decision-making.
